Flavoured Water

Water…
Truth be told, even though it’s the number one thirst-quenching solution, it’s not the most thrilling drink on planet earth.
I struggle getting it down my throat.
I’m well aware that moms-to-be like myself find it difficult to drink water, yet it’s an essential part of a pregnant woman’s diet, in fact, it’s recommended that we drink 8 glasses of water everyday, eight!… I see you rolling your eyes now, I see you haha!
A lot of people don’t drink enough water or any for that matter, so I figured it would be pretty neat to put together and share this post.
Infusing your water with fruits or herbs or even glucose not only
adds flavor to the water but also adds essential vitamins and nutrients that
help your body.  It’s a great way to
quench your thirst and keep you hydrated, especially on hot sunny days.

There are tons of great ways to jazz up water. Making infused water is very very simple, just add desired ingredient to a jug of water or bottle of water. Muddle mixture a
bit if you want to increase flavor and let steep for at least 2- 3 hours or up
to 24 hours in a fridge, it really depends on how strong you want the flavors. As long as you keep the water refrigerated, the ingredient (fruit) should
stay fresh. You can keep refilling the jug or your water bottle as you drink the
water, but of course it will dilute the flavor each time you refill. It should
last several days before you need to remake with fresh ingredients.
One way to make infused water is with a single ingredient. Lemon is great, no lose option for adding a touch of flavor to water, so it
can be a good one to start with if you’ve never made infused water before.
Below are four of my personal favorites!
1. Apple Infused Water
By the way, you can totally eat the fruit afterwards! 😉
2. Mango Infused Water
3. Glucose Infused Water
Energade is the best glucose powder we have in the Kenyan market, my opinion. I like adding it to my water for flavor and an amazing energy boost, seriously, when I infuse my water with this particular glucose I feel like I’m back to my second trimester days.
Just for the  record, guys from Energade are not paying me to say this, they should be lol!
4. Lemon & Strawberry Infused Water
With this I wanted to show that you can use more than one ingredient to add flavor to your water. There are a good number of combinations you can experiment with:-
– Cucumber and mint
– Lemon and orange
– Watermelon, grapes and mango
– Ginger and lemon
– Orange, rosemary and pineapple
The key to a happy body = hydration. The key to happy hydration = flavoured water!
I hope this post helps somebody increase their daily water intake. If you have other ideas of how we can all get ourselves to drinking more water or recipes of your own, please share.
Happy Hydrating!
xXx

  1. I actually love the taste of water. LOL. I know, I am probably the only one you know who's said that. However, this is such a helpful post for those who don't and for those days when I'm not feeling water. I love mangoes so Mango-infused would definitely be my go to. 🙂
